Taste the Rainbow - a Lasting Memories page

Happy Sunday, friends!

I'm bringing you a page with another fun prompt from Lasting Memories today - to use at least 5 patterned papers on your page.

These papers are slightly rugged and distressed from a Heidi Swapp paper pad, so I'm taking that for patterned!

I knew I wanted to use some of my new Momenta dies to create a rainbow layout, and what better photo to use than one of my boy eating Skittles?!

I die cut leaves and flowers from the patterned paper and inked the edges with coordinating colors. Then I sewed them down for some added interest.

I used corresponding paints for the background. I actually didn't have pink or orange paint, so I used watercolor crayons mixed with gel medium.

I added additional texture with  some white Ranger texture paste pulled through my tiny dots laser cut paper. I need to invest in an actual stencil like that because I love it and it's about to be done!

My favorite bits are the little puffy stickers from Momenta that coordinate with my rainbow colors!

I hope you'll play along with this last June challenge this week over at Lasting Memories.

Supplies:
Paper - Heidi Swapp
Alphas - Elle's Studio
Puffy stickers  - Momenta
Dies - Momenta
Green paint - Shimmerz
Yellow paint - Heidi Swapp Shine
Pink and orange - Recollections
Aqua paint - unknown

Life is Best in the NPS!

Hey y'all!

I have a new little process video for you today on the YT channel. I created this layout using a prompt for the June challenges in the Paper Issues FB group called "What's Going Down?" The challenge was to focus all attention on the bottom of the page.

I did some mixed media with spray and then texture paste at the bottom of the page. Then I cut different strips from the 6x6 paper pad

I distressed the edges and inked with navy blue and cohesion, and for that rustic look I love.

You know I gotta add my sparkle! I also used the puffy stickers from the Outfitters collection, and some Jolee's travel badges from my stash.

It definitely focuses down!

Please check out my quick time lapse video & push that thumbs up! I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for looking!

Life at the Pool - a LM page

Hey hey, friends!

I've got another super bright layout for you today - I created this page with this week's prompts at Lasting Memories, which were to use texture paste!

You can find a process video on my YouTube channel!

I got a little wild with my texture paste, but it's fun for this pool layout. It's also fun to get messy!

Finally used some of these cute tags I got from the Elle's Studio grab bag sale a while ago.

I used to say I wasn't patient enough to wait for mixed media to dry, but now I almost can't imagine creating a layout without it! This texture paste by Ranger dries crazy fast!

Many more pages to come with this kid & his crabby suit, I'm sure. LOL! The hat matches the floatee! I die.

Also, I may have bought numerous packages of these Mambi letters at TM the other day! I have them in Lime green and they have lasted me FOREVER! I had to snatch up the turquoise and gold when I found them.

These Elle's Studio tags really worked so perfectly with this Heidi Swapp paper. I have been trying to buy less paper pads, but this one was on sale, and I really liked most of the pages inside, so I allowed it. Like I mentioned, I've bee so into color lately, and this paper pad was full of fun, bright summer colors.

It's called Favorite Things.

Of course I have my Missy influence here with my torn page. I can't stop, won't stop watching her videos and just attempting to do what she does that I love! She's so talented, so why not.

I've seen a lot of talk about busting your stash recently. I'm not down for committing to any challenges rn, but I do realize I need to use more of my supplies I've hoarded. I have SOOO many! So you will likely see me throwing all the things at my pages all summer. Minimalism just is not for me! (Like those triangle stickers I've been holding on to that I picked up at TM like a year ago!? wth?)

So I hope you'll run over to Lasting Memories & play along with us this week. There is a prize up for grabs.

I also hope you'll check out my video and give me a thumbs up if you like it! I've been trying to get nt he habit of making more videos and growing my YT presence. These short little time lapse videos are definitely doable for me (as long as no one calls while I"m filming LOL!).

Paper - Heidi Swapp Favorite Things

Alpaca my Bags - a DCWV sketch

Hey friends!

Today I'm bringing you a fun layout I created using this month's sketch at DCWV.

\

I used alcohol inks for the first time on this layout, and I definitely understand what all the fuss is about! They're so fun and i love the gorgeous way they turned out.

I rotated the DCWV sketch for this page, one turn to the right.

I've had my eye on this llama stack for a while and finally treated myself.  I love the colors! They work really great with this set of ranger inks I just bought too.

How cute are those tassels?! I found those on clearance a Joann the other day.

I've always got to add a few sequins!

I used my Concord and 9th dies to cut the small title alphas, and altered afew of these large sassafras letters to fit my alpaca needs.

You can watch a super speed process video on my YouTube channel. Let me know how you like the quick process with no voiceover. Yay or nay?

Also, I knew I had used this sketch before! I dug in the archives and found this layout I created in August 2016 using this great sketch.

It was fun to look back and see where  I have improved in my design, and definitely in my photography skills! I still really like this page, but I definitely enjoy doing my mixed media pages now too. I love lots of messy layers, and I feel like I've improved on that front as well.

Thanks for lookin', y'all!

Livin' my best life - a Lasting Memories Challenge

Hey friends!

Today I'm bringing you a messy layout I created for this week's challenge over at Lasting Memories. This month we're focusing on stash busting, and the challenge this week is to use paints and mists/sprays.

I use my paints and mists really often on my layout, but I do understand that they're collecting dust in the stash of many people! Get them out and play! It is quite therapeutic. Grab a Missy Whidden video if you're in need of inspiration.

I sprayed some Heidi Swapp shine on my acrylic block instead of the packaging technique, then I used glitter glass bead gel on my cloud stencil. After all of that dried, I figured I needed more texture, so I stamped some turquoise ink on some bubble wrap and it added great depth.

I wanted to use lots of layers, which is another great way to use up maybe some excessive amounts of paper from paper pads you have lying around!

Then I combined die cuts and stickes and even part of a branding strip (the eyelashes) to cluster embellishments.

I do believe this will be the title page for my cruise album, and I wish I was back there now!

I definitely used my Nuvo glue to  ensure these Thickers stuck to the super mixed media background. I popped up the photo with fun foam (obvs I've been watching Missy LOL), and that heart eyes emoji was a last minute addition, but I love how it matched my layout!

I  hope you'll grab some mixed media supplies and create a messy (or not) layout for this week's challenge. There is a fun prize up for grabs.

CSM - cover layout

I was honored to be asked by Creative Scrapbooker Magazine to design a layout for submission for their cover art for the Summer 2018 issue.

My layout was not chosen for the cover, but it was an honor just to be invited to design!

Here's the layout I submitted:

CSM provided the photo for the layout, but I will likely replace it with a photo of my own.
