Pina Colada Paradise

Hello, friends!

I hope you're having a beautiful, LONG weekend!

Today, I'm here with a new challenge for you over at Lasting Memories - to use fruits or vegetables on your layout.

Obvs this was a no-brainer for me. I have pineapples on the brain, lately, what with all the tropical vacation photos... here is my fruity layout:

I combined the My Mind's Eye Palms Springs collection with CraftSmith co's Bahama Mama paper pad.

Those little gold pineapples are just too cute!

I did some lemonade embossing powder on those chipboard squares to pop up the background layers some.

I hope you will play along with the challenge this week!

Dad to 2 - a SIT sketch

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

I hope you all are having a relaxing day long weekend. I'm taking advantage of naptime and a rainy day today.

I created a new layout with a great sketch from Sketches in Thyme of my three favorite photo subjects!

Here is the original sketch:

It has been a minute since I did some mixed media, so I broke out my favorite wood grain stencil and another to combine them. I thought of doing texture paste with the chevrons & brown ink with the wood grain, but I decided against it. I might try that technique in the future, however!

I need to remember it is ok to practice first rather than screwing up an entire background page with an experiment...

I have always loved green, and I'm pumped that it seems kelly green is a trending color right now. These fun strip papers are from Echo Park The Wild Life Collection.

This was my husband's first Father's Day to two boys! So sweet :)

This sketch was super great to work with. A simple & quick way to get a page done. I will be rotating this one in the future! :)

Supplies:
Beige cardstock - Craftsmith Co.
Paper Strips - Echo Park
Green photo background paper - Basic Grey
Striped paper - The Paper Studio
Wood stencil - Prima
Chevron stencil - Hampton Art
Alphas - Thickers by American Crafts
Splatters - Heidi Swapp Shine and Tattered Angels glimmer mist
Green fabric tag - Amy Tangerine
Arrow - Cedar Lane by Pink Paislee
Camera - Studio Calico
Cork - The Paper Studio
Stamp - Heidi Swapp

Mermaid for each other - a challenge YOUrself page

It's FriYAY, y'all!

Today I'm bringing you another fun cruise layout which was inspired by this month's challenge over at Challenge YOUrself.

The challenge was to use their fun mood board to inspire your page, and as usual, use a photo that includes YOURSELF!  Here is the mood board:

I used the blue/turquoise especially, but also the allover beachy feel. Mermaids live in oceans, AIR?!

So this page was basically a happy accident. I had used some white cardstock to cut some palm leaves, and the scrap was laying there when I was deciding where to start with this page. I decided I liked the look the negatives of the diecuts left and used the scrap!

Concentrated HS shine dots are always super fun, so I picked my beachy, bright colors and went to town in a rectangle to border my photo.

I used 6x6 papers and scraps to layer a photo background, and popped some of the layers up with foam dots.

I've been dying to use a quote with mermaid in it. I created this little title on my Cricut with a free font & I love how it turned out!

I embellished with a few stickers, puffy stickers, gold foil accents, and enamel dots. I'm really turning out these cruise pages & loving it! <3 p="">
Supplies:
Aqua paper, blue pineapple paper, flamingos - CraftSmith Bahama Mama
Yellow pineapples, pink tag, all stickers - My Mind's Eye Palm Springs
Turquoise alphas - Webster's Pages
Splatters - Heidi Swapp Shine

Ice Cream Dreams - a Paper Issues challenge

Hey everyone!

Sorry I've been a little sporadic, but vacation will do that to ya.

We took a cruise last week, and I'm so excited to scrap the photos! Obviously the first scrapped photos ended up involving ice cream. My son resolved to eat ice cream every day, and I do believe he succeeded - with multiple cones some days!

I participated in ScrapLift Sunday with my buds at Paper Issues for this layout. Here is the original layout we all scraplifted:

Such a fun and unique sketch/layout! I really enjoyed creating my own version.

I chose bright, summery colors for my papers, but loved the bright white of the alphas. When in need, 3s become Es!

I picked up these little food flairs in the $1.50 bin at Michael's because I knew we'd eat a lot on the cruise! haha! I also got these little fuzzy pom poms in "ice cream" colors - they're so perfect! I used them with sequins and these little glitter dots as "sprinkles" on my page!

These sweet stickers are from a Studio Calico sheet I've been hoarding, and obvously I will NEVER run out of uses for these Pink Paislee papers from the Citrus Bliss collection.

The ice cream ephemera is a pebbles chip piece.

I used some foam dots to pop up the middle, my favorite, photo, as well as the circle glitter frame I cut from my cricut.

I had so much fun creating this layout! I cannot wait to do more from our vacation.

My Besties - GDT for Stuck?!

Hey hey hey!

I'm so excited to be the guest designer for this month's second sketch over at Stuck?! sketches. I love all of Laura's sketches, and I use them outside of challenges - they're so wonderful! The sketch today is no different!

I wanted to try something a little new today, so I created a monochromatic layout with only white papers and embellishments. I really like how it has turned out. I must say it is difficult to translate into a photo, a bit, but I tried!

I used some white wood grain bits, some laser cut flower paper, and a few other white lightly patterned papers.

Here is the original sketch:

They're always so great!

Also, I cannot get enough of these little Tim Holtz labels!

The sequins are all tones of white, but the iridescence showed up purple on the photos. There are splatters below the layers on the sketch. For my splatters, I splattered white Heidi Swapp Shine and then sprinkled iridescent embossing powder to compliment the sequins before it dried!

I sprayed the laser cut paper with white Shine, but it still had a tint, but that was fine since my flowers had a little  bit of a gold tint as well.

I just topped it off with a tag and a feather, nbd.

We actually don't take a lot of wonderful photos together, so this one that turned out great of the besties and myself had to be scrapped!

I loved being GDT for Stuck?! today! I hope you will go play along!

Jambo - a Lasting Memories challenge

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday. I'm here with another challenge from Lasting Memories. This week's challenge is to use paper strips or washi tape in a BIG way!

I was searching from some inspiration on Pinterest, found a gem over at Scrap with Rachel, and I totally scraplifted it.

I created this page for my Disneyworld album - my family at Animal Kingdom.

I stuck down all the paper strips, and then I sewed on about half of them.

I felt like the paper strip background was busy enough that my photos didn't need backing.

Jambo is Swahili for Hello!

I had a lot of fun creating this layout, and I hope you will join us for this week's challenge at Lasting Memories!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today I'm bringing you the Mother's Day cards I made for my mom & my mother in law.

I used a fun sketch from Sketches in Thyme.

I rotated the sketch. My parents and my family are going on a cruse soon, so I was in a tropical state of mind making these!

Here is the original sketch:

I used Heidi Swapp Shine on this one, and watercolors on the other. I cannot really decide which I prefer!

I attempted some hombre embossing on the pineapple stamp.

Happy Mother's Day to you all!

Celebrate 91! - a Creative Sketch layout

Hey everyone!

Today I'm bringing you a layout inspired by the wonder April sketch from My Creative Sketches.

I went bold with this layout & used some girly papers I do not often have a chance to use. I mixed the WRMK Urban Chick & Fancy Pants Millie & June collections.

Here is the original sketch:

Some of the tags and ephemera of the Urban Chic line are tres girly, so these photos of my Granny's 91st birthday party. There is a photo of her, she and I and she and my mother and her sisters.

I sewed some glitter ribbon atop a messy tissue ruffle to tie in the black with the thread.

I used this heart ephemera to tie the purple from the flowers on the top to the bottom of the page.

Those Thickers from the Urban Chic collection are some of my faves! I also cannot get enough of this gold, leather embellishment ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed the page. There is still a little time left to play along with this sketch too.

Supplies:
Flower paper, thickers, & ephemera - We R Memory Keepers Urban Chic
Lined papers and puffy stickers- Fancy Pants Millie & June
