I used the new Bro & Co collection by Simple Stories and I am OBSESSED!
You can find the process video on my YouTube Channel.
I love this collection so much for my two boys! It has some snark and some whimsy and it totally gets me as a boymom. Traci Reed, the designer is a boymom. She totally rocks it and this is proof!

I had already scrapped the only two years of Back-to-School photos my family has amassed so far, so I chose a book them for my layout. I am an avid reader since childhood, and I'm so proud that my oldest son is following in my footsteps.
I used this bookshelf cut file from Paige Evan's Facebook group, and isolated a single shelf. I cut it on my Cricut Air. I backed the books with the packaging introduction page from the Simple Stories Bro & Co collection kit! I only needed the tiniest slivers of paper, and the example patterns on that packaging paper worked perfectly.
I used the backside of the cut apart sheet to border the page. It was so hard cutting into the cut apart sheet, because the 3x4 cards are so awesome (don't worry, I have another on the way!) but I adore this plaid paper! I sewed down the inside and outside of the border.
I embellished the page with cardstock stickers from the collection pack as well as die cut ephemera sold separately.
I created the background with a few different Shimmerz sprays. I had to do some mixing to get the perfect, muted, autumnal shades from the collection. I love that the colors are not primary for young kids, since the collection is geared towards teens.
My title is "My Afternoon is all Booked," and it works perfectly for the photo and story! My son went through a phase of asking to go out on our front swing and read after he came home from school, and it just melted my heart. I had to tell the story of how it reminded me of me reading out on a huge rock at my childhood home.
I hope you are inspired by this blog hop to incorporate some of our ideas onto your own page about Hitting the Books!
I'd love for you to comment with one of your favorite books, as I'm always looking for new ones to read. I love the Harry Potter series (obvi) and Little Women is one of my favorites. But my current read is fabulous - Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty. I have also blown through the Ruth Galloway murder mystery series this year by Elly Griffiths, which I highly recommend.
