Here today with another fine sketch from Scrapbook Challenges and the Sizzlin' Summer challenge.
How about cooling off with a snowy day in August?
Here's the original sketch:
I just loved this sweet photo of my little dude being mischeivious in the snow, so I printed it 5x7. When I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted the circles at the top to be something a little more than paper. I had this twine in the perfect color, and noticed it was coming off the spool & staying rounded & I loved it!
I used my Cricut to create some snowflakes which helped adhere the twine. I used the Cricut for my title too.
I hope you're feeling inspired by all the fun sketches so far in Sizzlin' Summer - more great ones to come!
Supplies:
Cardstock papers - Studio Calico
Glitter paper - DCWV glitter stack
Gemstone snowflakes - The Paper Studio
Twine - Michael's

My World - A Sizzlin Summer sketch
Day 3 of Sizzlin' Summer, my friends & I am LOVING it!
Brynn at Scrapbook Challenges has outdone herself with these great sketches & I'm loving having so much inspiration to create so many layouts.
Today I have for you a traditional 12x12 layout & a few tips on how to freshen up some old paper.
Here's the original sketch
So, full disclosure, patchwork isn't really my thing. I did something similar on a page for SBC a while back, and I do love how the page turned out, but I did not like the creative process. However, with the sweetness of this photo, I had the perfect, busy paper that would work, but not be patchwork. The thing was, it was a little dated. I love this WeRMemoryKeepers paper from 2010, but using an entire sheet nowadays with that busy pattern was just not going to fit with my style.
If you find that you have older paper that you love, but want to make it work with modern paper, just mix with some new collections with the same tones. I picked out the cream and black of the WRMK paper & paired it with a funky polkadot number from my new Dear Lizzy stack. I then tried my hand at some mad layering - a technique I definitely would not have attempted in 2010 - with the photo.
I used some anchor paper from a Fancy Pants beachy line because my family is my anchor. I also used a strip from the opposite side of the "patchwork" paper, a couple other scraps, and the top of some packaging to add some funk. I like to roughen the edges of my papers to give texture and make them stand out from the page some. I softened the layers with a little stitched heart sticker that complimented the paper and photo subjects well.
I got the globe cut file for free from my friends over at Paper Issues & used it as another layer behind my title. I think it also makes the page more modern, as a die cut, shape where you can see the paper through is all the rage currently.
I really enjoyed making this page, and using some of my stash finally.
Supplies:
Family paper - We R Memory Keepers
Background paper - Dear Lizzy
Anchor paper - Fancy Pants
photo backing paper, labels, home stamps, and alphas - Studio Calico
Globe paper - Amy Tangerine
Globe cut file - Paper Issues

A Perfect Day - A Sizzlin Summer sketch
It's the 2nd day of Sizzlin' Summer over at Scrapbook Challenges, and I'm bringing another 6x8 page from my December 2015 album.
I was on maternity leave the entire December last year, and it was GLORIOUS! This is just one of the photos that documented said glory.
Here is the original sketch. It's another that was meant for 12x12, but it adapted really well for 6x8.
I went to the Studio Calico warehouse sale earlier this year (pure awesomeness) and I picked up some December Daily items before I actually knew what DD was all about... I now have fomo about all the DD items I may have missed at the sale, but I really love the Jasmine Jones transparent die cuts I did score!
I used my new Dear Lizzy stack I got at Michael's for $5 the other day! I love the light, bright colors, and how they adapted easily for Christmas pages! Add a little washi, leftover sticker bits & a stamp & call it a page!
Supplies:
Paper - Dear Lizzy
Stamp - Studio Calico
Die - Jasmine Jones for Ali Edward's December Daily
Thanks for looking & hope you're playing along with SS at Scrapbook Challenges - lots of great inspiration!

Starting off Sizzlin' Summer!
Happy Monday, all.
Today I have a fun layout using a sketch from Scrapbook Challenges. We're kicking off a Sizzlin' Summer Challenge, and there will be new sketches EVERY WEEKDAY for the next 4 weeks! It sure it keeping me busy & I love it!
Today's layout was created for my December 2015 6x8 mini album. I love that these sketches can be adapted for any size layout quite easily.
I also created a corresponding pocket page opposite the layout. It was for our low-key New Year's Even celebration we had at our house.
Even though our party wasn't super fancy, I love the idea of black and gold for NYE. I recently won a Modern Metallics stack from DCWV and it was so perfect for these pages! Aren't those glitter Thickers to die for?!
Okay, well maybe it was a little fancy. I mean look at that charcuterie! The baby bundle was quite small and definitely unable to spend the night away from me yet, but he was such an angel all night!
I recapped a bit of our 2015 on the pocket pages - it was a good year, as it saw the birth of my little one. I'm trying to keep my 6x8 album light and bright, so tried to keep it simple here.
Supplies:
All papers - DCWV Modern Metallics Stack
Doily - Michael's Recollections
Au Revoir written by my Cricut
Gold Stars - Studio Calico
I hope you all play along with Sizzlin' Summer over Scrapbook Challenges this month. It'll be a blast!
