My Besties - GDT for Stuck?!

Hey hey hey!

I'm so excited to be the guest designer for this month's second sketch over at Stuck?! sketches. I love all of Laura's sketches, and I use them outside of challenges - they're so wonderful! The sketch today is no different!

I wanted to try something a little new today, so I created a monochromatic layout with only white papers and embellishments. I really like how it has turned out. I must say it is difficult to translate into a photo, a bit, but I tried!

I used some white wood grain bits, some laser cut flower paper, and a few other white lightly patterned papers.

Here is the original sketch:

They're always so great!

Also, I cannot get enough of these little Tim Holtz labels!

The sequins are all tones of white, but the iridescence showed up purple on the photos. There are splatters below the layers on the sketch. For my splatters, I splattered white Heidi Swapp Shine and then sprinkled iridescent embossing powder to compliment the sequins before it dried!

I sprayed the laser cut paper with white Shine, but it still had a tint, but that was fine since my flowers had a little  bit of a gold tint as well.

I just topped it off with a tag and a feather, nbd.

We actually don't take a lot of wonderful photos together, so this one that turned out great of the besties and myself had to be scrapped!

I loved being GDT for Stuck?! today! I hope you will go play along!

Celebrate 91! - a Creative Sketch layout

Hey everyone!

Today I'm bringing you a layout inspired by the wonder April sketch from My Creative Sketches.

I went bold with this layout & used some girly papers I do not often have a chance to use. I mixed the WRMK Urban Chick & Fancy Pants Millie & June collections.

Here is the original sketch:

Some of the tags and ephemera of the Urban Chic line are tres girly, so these photos of my Granny's 91st birthday party. There is a photo of her, she and I and she and my mother and her sisters.

I sewed some glitter ribbon atop a messy tissue ruffle to tie in the black with the thread.

I used this heart ephemera to tie the purple from the flowers on the top to the bottom of the page.

Those Thickers from the Urban Chic collection are some of my faves! I also cannot get enough of this gold, leather embellishment ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed the page. There is still a little time left to play along with this sketch too.

Supplies:
Flower paper, thickers, & ephemera - We R Memory Keepers Urban Chic
Lined papers and puffy stickers- Fancy Pants Millie & June

My Bear Cubs - A Stuck?! sketch

Happy weekend, friends!

Today I'm bringing a layout of my two little bear cubs that I created with a wonderful sketch from Stuck?!

My parents bought my boys matching bear cub jammies & they had a litttle photos shoot in them one evening haha.

Here's the original sketch:

When I first saw it, I immediately thought it would be great for my Disneyworld scrapbook. However, I had these 3 little cub photos & it just worked out. But don't be surprised if this sketch pops up again in a bit using my new Say Cheese III collection and some Disphotos.

I brought out the red for the pjs, and some plaid for the coziness (and because I adore this Hampton Art bear stamp!)

I matted my page with constellation paper because jammies are worn at night and all. I used a zigzag stitch on my machine to border the page with red wooly twine, another cozy element.

The green paper was a scrap circle I had, and added a 3rd accessorizing color into my layout.

I was blessed to win an amazing prize of The Ink Road's newest stamp collection, and this little adorbs stamp is one of the **many** that sweet Lara, the owner, sent to me.

I had a lot of fun creating this page. These boogers have grown so much since last May when the photos were taken <>. I wish I could keep them little.

Also, side note. I recently purged my papers, and I had a pack of Kraft with Christmas patterns that I will likely not use anymore. Howevever, I had no problem turning the page over to the blank side to use on this layout - keep that in mind for your tired papers with white backs as well!

Supplies:
Constellation paper - Becky Higgins
Navy Heart Paper - Fancy Pants
Gingham paper - Studio Calico
Red wool twine - Michael's
Bear Stamp - Hampton Art
Quote Stamp - The Ink Roadd
Red ink - Stampin' Up
Green star paper - Crate paper
Red polka dot tag - Simple Stories
Red plaid - Echo Park
Red Star - Pink Paislee
Navy puffy alphas - Fancy Pants
Red puffy alphas - Color Theory
Puffy green stars - Studio Calico
Red 2 sticker - Studio Calico
Navy dot stickers - Heidi Swapp

What a hefty list today!

Wishmaker Extraordinaire! - a LM challenge

Happy Sunday, friends!

I can hardly believe we're starting the month of March this week! My friends over at Lasting Memories have a great month of birthday themed challenges headed your way.

This week's challenge is to use a fabulous sketch from the talented Laura Whitaker, and create a birthday themed layout with it.

Here's the original sketch:

My boys had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle birthday party last November, so that inspired my green color scheme.

I won this 6x6 paper pack - Crate Paper Party Day - a while back, and it was so perfect to include a bunch of different shades of green.

I gessoed the page, and tinted my texture paste with some Heidi Swapp shine. I used my cricut to cut my shapes.

I picked up these Amy Tangerine little puffy letters at Tuesday Morning the other day & I adore them! I wish they had 10 more packs!

The Wishmaker word is Studio Calico rub-ons on vellum. I thought they helped tie in the corals, yellows and oranges well.

I added a fun piece of acetate paper over one of the photos because the green banners were too good to pass up on this page, and it helps break up how closely the photos resemble one another.

I had fun creating this page, but I wish this boy would stop growing!

Supplies:

Gray cardstock - Craftsmith
Green texture paste - Heidi Swapp color shine
Green and white border paper - Becky Higgins
Birthday circle and tag papers - Crate Paper party day
Rub on alphas & stickers - Studio Calico
Green alphas - Amy Tangerine
Perfect stick - Me and my Big Ideas

Thanks for looking & I hope you will join this week's challenge over at Lasting Memories!

Pressed Penny - a Stick it Down sketch

Happy Saturday!

I just finished a page, and I wanted to get it logged before I miss the deadline, as that has unfortunately happened to me before!

I used a great sketch from Stick it Down, and I really love how it turned out.

My son & husband love to find a pressed penny machine wherever we go. I had these photos of them pressing a penny at the Chattanooga Aquarium last year, and thought it was a good idea to document their little tradition. The paper theme came from me wanting to use a copper metallic accent (pennies, get it?!), and these were some of the only options in my stash! I'm glad though, b/c the color scheme is perfect, especially since Heath has decided his favorite color is blue just like his Dad.

Here's the original sketch:

I like how the sketch has us to do the journaling around the circles!

I used some Stampin' Up PearlEx for the triangle, and I think it added the perfect amount of copper to finish off the page.

I love the background paper too, it says Father in many languages.

Supplies:
Blue and copper papers - Tags and More Stack from DCWV
Background paper, Vellum and copper round tags - Studio Calico
Blue purple and gray paper - the Paper Studio
Triangle Stamp - Heidi Swapp

EPCOT! - A My Creative Sketches layout

Hey everyone!

Today I'm bringing another layout from my recent trip to Disneyworld at Christmas! Yes, it is as magical as it sounds.

I used a lovely sketch from My Creative Sketches and put my hybrid Disney Christmas twist on it.

Yessssss! I've been saving this piece of Studio Calico paper for the perfect layout & it has come along!

Here's the original sketch:

I didn't have another paper that was the perfect Kelly green besides plain cardstock. So I had the idea to "make" my own patterned paper with embossed stamps. I super love how it turned out. I used the Echo Park disney stamps, as well as a few from my collection that would go great for a day at a Disney park!

When creating this layout one evening, I consulted my scrappy consultant and said, "Should I do ornaments? or should I do Mickey heads?" Her response was, "Why don't you do Mickey Head Ornaments?"

I like your style, scrappy consultant! They worked perfectly with my little ornament buttons too!

My red paper was a little muted, so I had these perfectly muted red sequins to go with it! It was the perfect tie together for the page, as they're not iridescent or shiny.

I'm super pleased with how my page turned out & I cannot wait to get to scrappin' more. I'm still working on the first full day! haha!

Supplies:

Black and green paper - Studio Calico
Red bow paper - Studio Calico
Stamps - Echo Park and Studio Calico
Die Cuts - cut by Cricut (used ornament svg & welded on the ears!)
Sequins - Studio Calico
Glitter ribbon - Dollar Tree

Jeep Fun - a LGS sketch!

Hey everyone!

I'm working on my "be more prolific" goal for the year, and it's going well. Today, I have a layout created with this week's sketch from Let's Get Sketchy - they always have inspiring sketches!

Here is the original sketch:

I'm really loving this boy themed paper from Authentique!

Here you can see a few orange shimmery paint splatters. I also folded my wood grain washi tape back on itself to create a little dimension and I really like how it turned out!

I cut the top cute little camera from some kraft stickers, and the green camera from a Pink Paislee travel collection paper pad.

Supplies:
Green paper & camera - Pink Paislee Atlas
Gray and orange papers - Authentique Darling Boy
Kraft stickers - Studio Calico
Cork stickers - Journey by Crate Paper

Start Smart, Stay Rad - a LGS sketch

Hey everyone!

Today I'm bringing a page I really enjoyed making with a lovely sketch from over at Let's Get Sketchy.

I just started on the month of February - my how these two littles have grown since then!

Here is the original sketch:

I've really enjoyed layering lately, and this was the perfect sketch for that! I'm not sure it comes across in the photo but the word smart is gold metallic (a fun little happy mail goodie), and I really enjoy that look with the colorful papers and b&w photo. I also had fun with some black splatter on my layout, which I don't do a ton.

Here is the little tag at the bottom. I love how it was a good continuation of the title, Start Smart, Stay Rad!
I used the staples, green paper and twine and a gold arrow to draw it together with the layer from up top.

Supplies:
Paper - My Minds Eye
Twine - Michaels
Washi tape - Recollections by Michaels
Puffy arrows - Freckled Fawn
Stay Rad tag - Heidi Swapp
Black round alphas - Studio Calico
gold smart, ampersand and flower all happy mail goodies - sources unknown!

Go on a Journey - a Scrapbook Circle Sketch

Today I'm bringing you a campking/kayaking layout I created with a sketch from Scrapbook Circle.

Here is the original sketch:

This layout was also created with the lovely prompts from Picture This, use a male in your life & tell a story about him through your layout, and Paper Issue's issue of the Unbeleafable Outdoors! These are my boys & we LOVE to be outdoors. This is from a camping trip.

I really love the Echo Park Happy Camper collection, and I have been saving it for this camping trip we took! This was my boy's first time in the kayak. So fun!

I got this little saying from Crate Paper's Instagram feed a while ago. I just screen shot it and printed it with my other photos.

I layered the title veneer under the transparent letters for a little dimension. Man, kayaking around Reelfoot Lake was so super fun - it's an amazing park. These cypress trees grow up out of the middle of the water and the roots are super cool and creepy. I told my husband I felt like Ariel in the "Kiss the Girl" scene in some of the waterways! haha!

Supplies:
Patterned Paper and camping stickers - Echo Park Happy Camper
Cardstock and geotag brads - The Paper Studio
Cork Stickers - Crate Paper
Vellum, tranparent alpha and wood veneer - Studio Calico
