WDW & family - It's what I LOVE!

Happy Sunday!

I'm kicking this week off with another great challenge from Lasting Memories - to scrap about things you LOVE.

I actually almost always scrap about things I love. However, in particular, I LOVE Disneyworld (and Disneyworld scrapbooking) & my little family.

I also took all these layout photos with my new iPhone 7 plus (with a camera as good as my DSLR!) which I also LOVE! I'm telling you, this camera/phone is a game changer!

I made this little cut file in Cricut Design Studio just by welding together some circles, then I sewed it down to my paper.

I added some ephemera bits & layer some papers behind the photo, and it was a super simple, quick page! There's my little family.

Oh I also splattered a bit of black tattered angels and some yellow HS shine.

Cooling off your Sizzlin' Summer

How about cooling off with a snowy day in August?

Here's the original sketch:

I just loved this sweet photo of my little dude being mischeivious in the snow, so I printed it 5x7. When I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted the circles at the top to be something a little more than paper. I had this twine in the perfect color, and noticed it was coming off the spool & staying rounded & I loved it!

I used my Cricut to create some snowflakes which helped adhere the twine. I used the Cricut for my title too.

Fartberries?!

Bahaha! Today's layout is one using my June Counterfeit Kit & a prompt from their blog to use a humorous quote as your title. I just knew when I saw the prompt that I had the perfect quote!

I also used a lovely sketch from Let's Get Sketchy.

My son was asked to be the ring bear (nope, not bearer, (himym)) for my cousin's wedding, and he was less than thrilled about it. The day of the rehearsal, it was naptime and later than his normal lunch time & he wasn't feeling it. I was trying anything to keep him in good spirits. We were in a beautiful garden, so I pointed to a plant and told him those were "fartberries" and to make sure he didn't eat them because they would make him... well... you know. He thought this was hilarious, of course. He did awful at the rehearsal (he came through at the wedding tho! Praise Jesus!), but made sure to tell everyone at the luncheon following all about the fartberries!

There's the little stinker. I couldn't get enough of that gorgeous patinaed brick wall....

Here's the sketch I used. I adapted it a bit since I didn't want to cut my photo. I just used the other half of the photo as the intended journaling card...

Natalie means Christmas Day - GDT at Lasting Memories

I am so happy to have the opportunity to be a Guest on the Design Team at Lasting Memories this month. It's a really great Challenge month on this blog, and I hope you all will play along. The theme is "All About Me".

Today's Challenge reveal is "The Meaning of My Name," which I love because I love the meaning of my name! It describes me perfectly. My name means "Christmas Day." I absolutely adore Christmas. I could (and do) listen to Christmas music all year round. I love glitter and sparkle, and what other time of year is more sparkly than Christmas?! The smell of Christmas makes me smile, and I literally just adore everything about the holiday season.

I always knew my name meant Christmas, but when I took a Portuguese class and learned that Portuguese for Merry Christmas literally contained my name in Portuguese, Feliz Natal, I always loved that. So I incorporated that phrase into my paper with my Cricut.

This photo is of my husband and myself last Christmas. For our anniversary in October, he bought me tickets to two different concerts, combining my love of great music, Nashville, and Christmas songs! This is the two of us before we went to one of the shows - Drew Holcomb & the Neighbor's Neighborly Christmas at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. (The dress and no leggings was because it was unseasonably warm - there was a tornado warning!) The other show we attended was a Johnnyswim Christmas at the Ryman. Both super great!

Today I have a layout created from the sketch over at Sketch~N~Scrap.

I took this photo of my son on a trip we took a few weeks ago, he was giggling and being so happy, so I snapped a few really quick. When I reviewed the photos again, I about died laughing at this face he was making!

I laugh so hard every time I see this picture! I think it would be a hilarious meme reaction. Actually a friend of mine uses as such in our texts!

I love Crate Paper's Wonder collection, which is what I used for this entire page, except for the alphas, which are Studio Calico.

This was a fun sketch to throw together as we wrap up National Scrapbooking Month.

A mood board page - St. Patty's day green!

Today's challenge at Scrapbook Challenges is a March mood board.

I love the colors & they are perfect for my newborn son's baby album.

I used a 12x12 Studio Calico paper pad & cut down the papers. I especially love the green flower embellishments I picked up on clearance at Hobby Lobby!

On Trend - Incorporating trends into your scrapbook

There are some specific elements I have been noticing again and again popping up on social media that I've been wanting to incorporate into my scrapbook pages, so when I decided to complete challenges at Rochelle Spears and Creating with Paper and More, I thought, "What better time than now?!"

So I did a fun geometric heart on a page of my little family at our church Homecoming and I did some watercolors on the title.

Geometric designs are huge these days. I found one free cut file on pinterest, but when I tried to download it, it didn't work for some reason, so I just created my own in Cricut Design Studio with some triangles! (Free!)

Watercolor is also a giant trend you see everywhere right now. I love it and I had a set I've been meaning to play around with. I used my Cricut to cut out the title & dabbled the color scheme around & I love it! It was so fun and relaxing. I will definitely be incorporating more watercolor into my crafts!

The challenge at Rochelle Spears is This or That? Chevrons or Polka Dots? Since I already did a chevron page for SBC this month, I thought I'd go with the polka dots in the geometric heart.

The color scheme came from the mood board over at Kelly's Creating with Paper and more. Here's the mood board:

I loved the greens & blue, and of course the heart had to be in the white! The heart is reminiscent of the clover in the mood board. There are also some sweet polka dots on the cute little shamrock cookies!

A new challenge for me - The Counterfeit Kit Challenge!

So in full disclosure here, I had browsed the Challenge over at Counterfeit Kit Challenge a while ago, and I failed to fully read instructions, and I thought you had to create layouts with a kit you bought from them ... boy was I wrong! That's not what this awesome blog is about at all!

Quick run down - they give you inspiration from a kit club, and you put together your own kit with your stash! Now THAT sounds like something right up my cheap-old-booty's alley!

So this month was apparently different due to not having papers in the inspiration kit, but I know no different, so here goes:

This is my kit - let's call it Snappy Pack!

I got inspiration from the colors - green, gray, orange; the scripts/handlettering; and from the photography/camera theme.

I've created a nice, manly layout for my husband's birthday this past year with my counterfeit kit.

And here's a detail. I really ended up loving the title. I was thrifty and used the paper tag from the Studio Calico background paper for the stamped portion of the title - I love how it coordinates!

On another note, February was a very lucky month for little old me, so I'm going to brag a bit.

My layout of my son at the beach won the monthly challenge at Rochelle Spear's blog!

Then, today, they announced winners over at Lasting Memories, and my layout of newborn Lachlan got a Top 3 mention!

Yay for adding more buttons to my side bar!

March is going to be a great month of challenges - I've already really enjoyed making layouts with the prompts. It's so hard keeping them to myself until the reveal!

Happy 90th Birthday!

I am really trying to push through my scrapbooking here - I need to get caught up! Scrapbook sketches really help me do it when I'm not feeling my most creative trying to come up with a new layout.

I did a double page spread for my great-grandmother's 90th birthday with a sketch from My Creative Sketches. I also think all would agree that 90 is a milestone! So it goes well with the weekly challenge over at Studio Calico.

Here is the scrapbook layout using the sketch, which I rotated.

Five Generations

I completed the February Mood Board Challenge over at Jot Magazine.

I was inspired by the pinks & greens, the flowers, and the quote. Not many people are blessed to have their great-great grandmother!

I've done a few 5 generation pages along the way since Heath was born & I won't stop! I'm so proud and happy to have a family with longevity. Right now my grandmother is in poor health, and we have some tough times ahead of us, but I'm going to enjoy the moments we have together while I can. This photo was taken at my great-grandmother's 90th birthday!
