I created my layout using the new Heidi Swapp Art Walk line - I used the 6x8 paper pad and a few stickers from the cardstock sticker sheet.

I wanted to do a modern take on a grid design, but with a shape other than squares. I chose chevrons and used my Cricut to cut out 9 chevrons from different patterned papers from the 6x8 pad. I love the smaller patterns offered in the 6 inch paper pads, as they lend well to small designs. They're great for pocket pages too!

I distressed the edges on each chevron and sewed them down. I used a few of the chevron scraps to die cut some palm fronds with my Big Shot.

I used white acrylic paint, watered down, to create the white splatters.

I first tried to use some Thickers as a title, but decided I wanted to keep it bright and white. So I used some of the 6x8 Heidi Swapp paper to cut the word "Palmettos" from my Cricut. I used a free font, isolated the letters, and welded them together.

The rest of the title is cut from the Concord & 9th Double Cut Alpha Dies - always a favorite of mine!

This is literally one of my favorite photos I've ever taken in my life. So it was actually a lot of pressure to scrap it well! I am happy with the outcome, however.

To accompany my tropical layout, these die cut ephemera pieces from Kaisercraft's Paradise Found were absolutely perfect!

I love to mix and match among collections, and this Kaisercraft color scheme works perfectly with Heidi's Art Walk.

I finished the page with clear dew drop enamel bits and fluffed the chevron edges!

Magic on Main Street - A Process Video

Hey everyone!

Today I'm bringing you a fun Disney page I created with Simple Stories Say Cheese III.

I've been doing a lot of work for design teams or design team applications, and I just wanted to sit down and work on something solely for myself - it felt good!

I have been seeing more and more dark backgrounds, which I love. While I definitely see the pleasure and aesthetic of a white/light background, it is overdone IMO. I get so excited when I see my favorite designers post a darker page on IG!

I wanted to use my new castle stencil and RED, and I thought it would stand out well on black.

I also added red embossing powder and glitter. On the video you cannot tell the effect, but you can see it nicely in the photos.

I have to remind myself that I buy these ephemera packs to use - not hoard! I have been doing more intentional buying, not just of clearance items and hoping to use them - hoping to really make only pages I adore.

Sewing on a layout adds an element I believe that looks it took longer to complete a page than it actually did! Like you do a lot of extra work. There I have a custom embellishment cluster from sewing together a few ephemera from the collection.

While I have been buying more intentionally,  I make exception for Thickers found at Tuesday Morning! You can never have too many Thickers! I was excited to use these for the first time - black foam sparkles!

The little frame is from an older Say Cheese collection.

Simple Stories layouts!

Happy Monday, friends!

Today I'm bringing you part of a project I've been pouring my heart into - my submissions for the Simple Stories Design Team application.

I love Simple Stories brand - my favorite being the Say Cheese collection, of course. I completed an entire Disney album almost exclusively with this line. Unfortunately, our local craft stores do not carry much of any of the larger brands... but I recently found some of their Life in Color line & I love it.

Side Note:  I recently purged a ton of my scrapbook paper and stickers - some probably from about 10 to 15 years ago!? This and working with these products that all go together well and I love got me to seriously consider buying more of my supplies online. I'm definitely going to be more intentional in my crafty buying, instead of picking up just clearance that I end up never or only half-heartedly using!

So back to the matter at hand - my Life in Color layouts! I am pretty proud of them & the subjects couldn't be cuter, if I say so myself! ;-) I made them too - haha!

I wanted the striped background to show diagonally from behind. And boy did I have a fit with my sewing machine the day I did this page, but it's back in working order now! I had fun using it to create these little embellishment clusters. I fussy cut some flowers and circles, as well as used ephemera from the SN@P! pack. The yellow bits are pieces of embroidery thread tied around the cut file.

My little angel boy looked like he was giving a piece sign, so I used this great cut file from Paper Issues and altered it to a peace sign.

I am all about the puffy alphas lately! I especially love these green ones from Amy Tan I scored at Tuesday Morning recently.

I also created a corresponding pocket page because we took another round of photos one morning & they just cracked me up!

I am loving how the colors worked out so well with what they just happened to be wearing to school that day. I feel like this page is pretty clean & simple, and  had fun creating it. I really like the diagonal cards. I also like how the journaling card has a place to record the date, it was perfect to tell the story of their "Olan Mills" photo haha!

Supplies - basically almost all Simple Storys Life in Color!

Please say a little prayer for me as I perfect my application for submission today! It would be a dream come true to work with such an amazing company.
